Procedure 23002 U2L1 Making Quadrilaterals

Do All of the Following Tasks

Task 1 Keep This Procedure on the First Window
  1. Open the web browser Google Chrome using your computer.
  2. Create three different windows or browser tabs.
  3. On the first window, go to Mr. Quach’s teaching website Ri4C.com.
  4. Select the menu command Procedures at the top of the web page.
  5. Select the link taking you to this procedure, Procedure 23002.
Task 2 Keep GeoGebra Program on the Second Window
  1. On the second browser window, go to Mr. Quach’s teaching website Ri4C.com.
  2. Select the menu command GeoGebra at the top of the web page.
  3. Select a link to launch the program GeoGebra Geometry.
  4. Select the icon Tools on the left if not already done.
  5. Click on MORE to expand the toolbox.
  6. Scroll down to the bottom of the toolbox.
  7. Click on MORE again to expand the toolbox further.
Task 3 Get to Know GeoGebra the First Time

If you have never used GeoGebra before, do the following steps:

  1. Select the tool Circle with Center.
  2. Select two random points to draw a random circle.
  3. Select the tool Segment.
  4. Select two random points to draw a random segment outside of the circle.
  5. Select the tool Move, then move the segment inside the circle.
  6. Select the tool “Select Objects” under the toolbox section Edit.
  7. Draw a random point on the canvas to select all objects.
  8. Delete all objects by clicking on the Trashcan icon.
Task 4 Keep the Geometry Book on the Third Window
  1. On the third browser window, go to Mr. Quach’s teaching website Ri4C.com.
  2. Select the menu command Procedures at the top of the web page.
  3. Select the link taking you to the Online Geometry Book.
  4. Go to Unit 2 – Congruence.
  5. Go to Lesson 1, Congruent Parts, Part 1
  6. You should have only three windows.
    • The first window is for the procedure in focus.
    • The second window is for the GeoGebra program.
    • The third window is for the online book.
  7. Close all other unnecessary windows to minimize confusion.
Task 5 Label the Midpoint on the Longest Side of a Triangle
  1. Go to Lesson 1 Congruent Parts, Part 1
  2. Read 1.3: Making Quadrilaterals
  3. Go to GeoGebra
  4. Scroll to the top, section Basic Tools in the GeoGebra toolbox.
  5. Select the tool Polygon.
  6. Draw a triangle on the canvas.
  7. Scroll to the section Construct in the toolbox.
  8. Select the tool Perpendicular Bisector.
  9. Select the longest side of the triangle to draw the perpendicular bisector.
  10. Scroll to the top, section Basic Tools in the toolbox.
  11. Select the tool Point.
  12. Click at the midpoint on the longest side of the triangle.
Task 6 Rotate Your Triangle 180 Degrees Using the Midpoint of the Longest Side
  1. Scroll to the section Transform in the GeoGebra toolbox.
  2. Select the tool Rotate Around Point.
  3. Click in the middle of the triangle to select it.
  4. Select the longest side’s midpoint.
  5. Enter 180 degrees to complete the rotation.
  6. Scroll to the top, section Basic Tools in the GeoGebra toolbox.
  7. Select the tool Move.
  8. Drag the vertex labels around so you can read each one easily; do not let point names overlap.
Task 7 Measure Every Angle of Each Triangle
  1. Scroll to the section Measure in the GeoGebra toolbox.
  2. Select the tool Angle.
  3. Click in the middle of a triangle to measure all its three angles at once.
  4. Scroll to the top, section Basic Tools in the GeoGebra toolbox.
  5. Select the tool Move.
  6. Drag the angle labels around so you can read all degree values easily.
  7. Repeat the previous four steps to measure and label all the angles of the other triangle.
Task 8 Label a Triangle Using Your Full Name
  1. Scroll down to the section Media in the toolbox.
  2. Select the tool Text.
  3. Select a random point in the middle of the triangle.
  4. Enter your full name.
Task 9 Send the Result to Mr. Quach
  1. You must place your full name on the drawing.
  2. Take a snapshot or photo of the result of your work.
    • The result should look as shown in Appendix 2B below.
  3. Send the resulting image to Mr. Quach by email.
    • Click here for his email address.
  4. You should finish this procedure within 12 hours from when Mr. asks you to begin.
